Hey everybody, we need to figure out a date for the charity poker tournament and choose the charity/ministry that we are going to support with the proceeds. Please comment on this post with the following:
1. Which Saturday in April you think would work best for the tournament.
2. Any charity or ministry that you want to nominate. If you can include a website link or a brief synopsis of the organization that will help the voting process.

1. saturday nights are good
2. Partners International... it is Heather and I's favorite organization. This is where we tithe since we seem to be permenantly between churches. It serves both the spiritual and economic needs of the poor in the 10/40 window through indigenous leadership not heroic white people handing out toys. They are developmental in their work. These people are incredible...
My feelings definitly won't be hurt if they are not chosen but you all should check them out for yourselves some time.

14 April... its one week before our tournament, so it won't be overload in one weekend (which could also be an option if people were interested in playing both). An it won't conflict with good friday/easter or reading week (which a lot of people might leave for).
1) April 14th
2) Blood:Water Mission
Though this was founded by heroic white people (aka Jars of Clay), "Blood:Water Mission exists to promote clean blood and clean water efforts in Africa, tangibly reducing the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic while addressing the underlying issues of poverty, injustice and oppression. Blood:Water Mission is building clean water wells, supporting medical facilities, and focusing on community and worldview transformation, both here in America and in Africa."
But as Matt says, I would not be hurt if we went with another charity, just wanted folks to know about this group as well.
1. daytime on Sat. April 14th is good
2. International Justice Mission - http://www.ijm.org/
Sat. April 14th sounds good to me.
My nominations for charity are Beyond Borders - a Tony Campolo organization that works in Haiti. They target social justice issues especially child slavery & prostitution as well as bringing in groups for "transformational travel" which are trips to Haiti that expose people to life in Haiti in order to "promote understanding and solidarity." Check them out at www.beyondborders.net
They would be awesome because they are a smaller organization so the $$$ would really be felt, plus they are based right down the road outside of Philly.
My second choice would be International Justice Mission which J. Drury already lifted up.
